The Silver Ions Sterilizers replace the traditional UV Sterilizers in the Fresh Water hydrophore system of the ships.

The differences can be simply summarized as follow:
- UV Sterilizers do not prevent bacterial growth in the Fresh Water Tank. The bacteria are killed at a single point, the hydrophore pump outlet, where the water flows on its way to the consumers.
- UV sterilization doesn’t prevent at all the bacterial growth in the FW distribution piping where the water stands still before reaching the consumers.
- The bacteria grown in the Fresh Water Tank before the UV Sterilizer will also produce a nasty smell and bad taste to the water.
- Usually, the maintenance required for the UV Sterilizers is the replacement of the UV Lamps once a year and regardless of the amount of the water consumed.

Moreover, due to the consistent amount of organic matter produced by the bacteria grown in the tank, the UV Cell windows must be cleaned frequently.

The SILVER IONS STERILIZERS instead, release SILVER IONS in the water. By recycling the water through the Silver Ions Sterilizer, the bacterial growth in the Fresh Water Tank is prevented from the very beginning.

As long as the Silver Ions are present in the water, the growing of bacteria doesn’t takes place. Thus all the Fresh Water System is protected, including tanks, hydrophore pumps and the entire FW distribution piping as well.
By adopting the Silver Ions Sterilizer with a clean Fresh Water Tank, you will forget bad smells and taste while having a Fresh Water totally SAFE TO DRINK.

The maintenance for Silver Sterilizers is usually limited to the replacement of the Silver Electrode for every 7000 tons of Fresh Water being sterilized.
For example: with a Fresh Water production of 9-10 tons per day, the lasting of the Silver Electrode would be @ 2 years.
